The question on many lips when they hear about this project is “Why a Techie Network?”.

The rise of technical skills in Africa won’t come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the ground.

 A decade ago, the continent was known for utilizing various traditional means to carry out tasks. The outside world referred to Africa as a “backward continent”. Nevertheless, the past 10 years have defined and reshaped these views. The potential embodied in Africa just like its mineral resources are now clear.

Technology keeps growing with emerging ideas coming up on a daily basis. Probably not daily but truly often. The need for a community to foster this and build a stronger bond now seems to be very important. Within the little years of innovative prosperity, we’ve seen the need to come together to achieve a set of collective goals.

Asia boasts of their young lads creating digital solutions, South and North America boast of their advancement while Europe seems to be way beyond. Does that mean Africa isn’t working? We are but we need more collective effort that liberates the existing culture and foster more productivity.

As part of our focus at Techtrend Africa, we have set 5 goals that’ll be driven by our Student Campus Ambassadors cut across Africa to better promote Africans in technology.

These goals are;
1. Promote innovation and technology in all aspects of life and development in Africa.

2. Ensure the continuous improvement in the well-being and lifestyles of techies in Africa.

3. Provide an enabling environment for skills acquisition and application to improve the quality of life in Africa.

4.  Create avenues for imparting knowledge and experiences centred around tech to communities at all levels.

5. Creating a homely atmosphere amongst techies irrespective of their role, gender or belief thereby providing a community of loving and empathic experts.
