There used to be a time when local governments, including Hawkesbury Council did not include people elected under a party banner.
The current Council consists of nine representatives who were elected under a party banner of one sort or another, and three other independents who are not members of a party.

Above is a chart of the number of people who were endorsed as candidates for a political party for election to Hawkesbury Council since 1987.
In the early days the situtation is muddled becuase some Councillors were members of parties but did not stand as endorsed candidates.
On a scale of 1-5 where,
1 means Strongly disagree
2 means Somewhat disagree
3 means you feel Neutral
4 means Somewhat agree, and
5 means Strongly agree

Candidates from political parties should enjoy the same right to stand for local government as any other candidate.
