The Polling Place was founded in August 2020 as a nonpartisan, data-driven website and nonprofit dedicated to providing detailed, consolidated information on all candidates on a ballot, from the U.S. Senate to the local school board. Our mission stems from the belief that civic engagement at every level, including national, state, and local elections, is important and should be accessible to all. Through our own experience, we realized that information on candidates, especially local candidates, was often incomplete and scattered across newspaper articles, voter information websites like Ballotpedia, and a candidate’s website. It takes hours to thoroughly research every candidate on a ballot, and The Polling Place seeks to fill that void by making information on voting easily accessible.
You can view the previous website from the 2020 elections in Arizona here: thepollingplace.org
. In the last election, our website received over 20,000 views in just one month and received support from various candidates running for office, like Joan Greene, who ran for Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District, and news organizations, like the Arizona Capitol Times. In recent months, The Polling Place has expanded nationally, into twenty different states.
By joining The Polling Place, you will become a critical member of our team as we seek to expand across state borders, establish chapters elsewhere, create new websites for each region, and consolidate information on elections everywhere.
