Hello dear Incoming MPTI Scholars,
Please use this form to sign up for the Second Round of Proficiency and Placement Exams in Pro Tools, Analog Audio, Audio Engineering and Ableton.
As has been explained elsewhere, please do not study or prepare for this engineering and Ableton placement exams. These are an assessment test of your long term knowledge and expertise in these areas.
However, you are encouraged to study and prepare for each proctoring of the Pro Tools and Analog Audio Proficiency exams.
The exams will allow us to properly place you in the appropriate level of the Engineering and the Ableton courses in the first semester of the program, and to determine your level of experience with Avid Pro Tools software, as well as with Audio Engineering and with Analog Audio in particular.
These exams have no bearing on your academic standing or your GPA. They have no bearing on your grades.
The exams last an hour and are on Zoom.
This is a closed book exam. You are expected to work on your own, and will be observed by the proctors, and will be recorded. The Berklee code of Academic Honesty will be enforced for all the exams.
You must take the three exams:
1. Pro Tools Proficiency
2. Engineering Placement and Analog Audio Proficiency (this is a combo) Exam.
3. Ableton Placement exam
Please note: If you have already taken the Engineering Placement/Analog Audio Exam, you only need to answer questions 17-24 of the exam. We will not grade the first 16 questions if this is your second time taking the exam.
We will place you on a first come first serve basis on your preferred date/times. If you can make either time/date, please indicate so. A maximum number of 25 students will be allowed in each time slot.
