Digital Collections in Kenya

Africa is bringing African information to stand alone computers, local networks, mobile devices and the global web. The African Digital Library Support Network (formerly Southern African Greenstone Support Network) is a community of practitioners, managers, small businesses and strategic thinkers (with a mail list of over 300 participants +8 National Support centers so far) that plan, implement and sustain the necessary digitisation and IT. As ADLSN we envisage a community of "local experts" in Africa and Kenya in particular, who will be able to support implementation and management of Digital Libraries, Automation & FOSS Tools for Libraries.

A Work-In-Progress Web portal has been created (http://adlsn.org/kenya), and I have been nominated to develop and collate content for Kenya and currently trying to gather accurate and current data to populate the portal. It is with this regard that I am getting in touch with you so as you can help our Kenya community come up with accurate data by filling in the form below.

Please also add your suggestion and or comments in the Feedback area regarding as to how you want the portal to be (or have). Your immediate feedback is highly appreciated.

    Digital Libraries (Repositories)

A digital library is a library in which collections are stored in digital formats (as opposed to print, microform, or other media) and accessible by computers. The digital content may be stored locally, or accessed remotely via computer networks. This may include materials like the institution's books, papers, theses, and other works which can be digitized or were "born digital".
