Visual Storytelling: "Our Community" with Roger Wyan
General information: Using the camera as a tool, students in this seven-week course will examine the multiple components that make up their community of Merced - through photography, journal writing, and research. The Our Community project will enable the participants to focus on a broad spectrum of daily life activities, cultures, and people of all ages in the downtown Merced area. The goal is to create a compelling photographic portrait of Merced providing participants with the opportunity to understand how their community functions. Culminating in a photographic exhibition of students’ work at the Merced Civic Center, Our Community will be also an opportunity for the community to see how youth themselves envision the place in which they live.
