Volunteer to steward Salida's trails!
SMT manages more than 50 miles of singletrack around Salida. Help us maintain the trail network by becoming a volunteer Trail Steward!

Trail Stewards work independently, on their own time, on a trail of their choosing. They're also the first folks we call on for group trail work projects, and when we need a hand with emergency repairs.

No experience required. SMT provides training and tools.

There's no minimum requirement for work hours, though we expect Stewards to take pride in the work and hold themselves accountable.

Not ready to commit, but want to volunteer occasionally? Subscribe to SMT's mailing list for alerts about volunteer opportunities, trail news and more.

[OPTIONAL] Want to be a Crew Lead? After learning the basics of trail maintenance, Trail Stewards may get additional training to become Crew Leads.

Crew Leads learn additional skills, assist SMT in overseeing volunteers during group work projects (ShinDigs), and can even lead small volunteer groups.
