Welcome to the TEDxMcMasterU 2025 Performer Application! Thank you for your interest in delivering a performance act at the TEDxMcMasterU 2025 Conference. Performers are the backbone of the TED experience. It’s your ideas, stories and diverse identities that inspire the conversations, insight and change that propel the TED mission forward. This year, TEDxMcMasterU is looking for dynamic individuals who will share their talent(s) through a 5-minute live performance on the globally recognized TED stage.

The future is a mystery, full of uncertainty and endless potential. This year’s theme, What Next? invites speakers and audience alike to explore the thrilling possibilities of discovery and innovation. From breakthroughs in medicine and AI to space exploration and renewable energy, this theme embraces the excitement of what lies ahead. Whether it's developing new materials or using cutting-edge technology to address global challenges, What Next? pushes us to think critically about the impact of our actions and innovations. No matter the field—biology, chemistry, engineering, arts or beyond—this theme aims to bring out curiosity and bold ideas. The future may be daunting, but it also holds promise. So, what’s next? Let’s find out together.
*Please note that this is a general description of this year's theme of WHAT NEXT?. If you have a different interpretation of the theme that you would like your talk to focus on, that is completely welcome and encouraged. The essence of this TEDx conference lies in the convergence of varied perspectives and interpretations.
INSTRUCTIONS
Your performance can be about anything, so long as it meaningfully connects to the theme. We encourage you to be authentic and bring forward your most creative self. Previous experience is a great asset to enhance the experience, however it's not mandatory. Applicants may be any member of the public and do not need to be affiliated with McMaster University to apply.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
(1) VIDEO SUBMISSION
Submit a 5 minute (recommended length) video clip with the following:
o Introduction to yourself and or performance team(s)
o Present a sample segment of a past or planned performance
