SCL Science Educator Cohort Application for SFUSD (2026–27)
Thank you for your interest in the Science Communication Lab (SCL) Educator Cohort for SFUSD middle and high school biology and environmental science teachers. This short application is designed to help us learn about your teaching context, instructional approach, and interest in integrating film-based, hands-on learning into your classroom.

Before you begin
  • This application should take approximately 20–30 minutes to complete. 
  • Read the questions well before the deadline to help you think through some of the answers. This will make the application go much faster.
  • We encourage concise, specific responses that reflect your actual classroom practice. Please be mindful of the word limits on questions.

We are seeking educators in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) who:
  • Center student thinking, sensemaking, and participation
  • Use (or are eager to try) inclusive and equitable teaching practices
  • Are open to iteration, reflection, and collaboration
  • Can realistically integrate an SCL film into their Fall 2026 curriculum
Program Commitments (for selected participants)
  • Attend scheduled professional learning sessions (see flyer for dates)
  • Implement at least one film-centered learning experience in Fall 2026
  • Reflect on evidence of student learning and other outcomes
  • Share de-identified student work and brief reflections
