2019 Baseball & Softball Registration.

Please complete the following information by April 26, 2019 to register for Near West Recreation Baseball & Softball League. We are currently offering coed baseball (ages 4-11), fastpitch softball (ages 10-14) and major league baseball (ages 12-14)

Coed Baseball (ages 4-11)
Three coed divisions are offered: Tee-ball (ages 4-5), Coach Pitch (ages 6-8) and Minor League (ages 9-11). Participants will be assigned to a division based on their age on January 1, 2019. Participants must be four years old prior to May 1, 2019. Children can play up a division, but must be stated in the request section of registration.

When: Teams practice one weekday evening per week and play one game per week on Saturdays. Participants will be assigned to a Monday-Friday practice and special requests will be accommodated as possible. Practice will start no earlier than 5:30 pm and will end no later than 8:30 pm.

Locations:Practices and games are played at parks around the near west side. Parks include: Fairview Park (Ohio City), Herman Park, Lincoln Park, Zone Rec and Roberto Clemente Park.

Dates: Practices will start the week of May 7. Games will take place on Saturday mornings and early afternoons from June 1-July 27. Opening day and picture day will be Friday, May 31. Parent's meeting and end of season celebration to be determined. In the event of multiple rainouts, games will be played weeknights in lieu of practice.

Uniform and Equipment: Participants receive t-shirts and baseball caps. Minor League kids will also receive baseball pants and socks. Tennis shoes are required for all participants. Cups are required for all male Minor League and Major League players. Gloves are available for families in need of financial assistance. Bats, balls, and helmets to be provided by Near West Recreation.

Cost: $30 for Tee Ball & Coach Pitch; $45 Minor League. Need based financial assistance is available. Please fill out the appropriate information on the form to receive assistance.

Major League 14U Baseball (ages 12-14) & Girls Faspitch Softball 12u/14 u (ages 10-14)
We are joining the West Denison, OBALL and Tri-League 14u baseball league and fastpitch softball league. If we do not have enough girls for the 12u team, they will be placed on a coed Minor league baseball team.

When: Teams will practice twice a week for the first three weeks of the season (May 6- May 24). Regular season games will start the week of Memorial Day. Teams will play one to two games per week in the evening. Once games start, extra practices will be schedule by your coach. Some makeup games may take place on Saturdays.

Locations: Practices will take place at near west side fields. Half of the home games will take place at our home field. We are waiting on the city to confirm our home field (Zone Recreation or WC Reed). Away games will take place at any of the following fields: Dunphy Park, Halloran Park, Impett Park, Mohican Park, Garfield Park, McGowan Park, Loew Parkl Harmody Park, Memorial Park.

Dates: Practice will start the week of May 6. Games take place weeknights from Memorial Day through July 31. Each team plays 10 games and finishes the season with a double elimination tournament (weather permitting) after the regular season. Teams will be play one to two games per week. Regular season games should wrap up by July 7 followed by any make up/rain out games. Double elimination playoff will start after. Playoff games and All-Star game will finish up by July 31.

Uniform & Equipment: Participants will receive t-shirt, baseball cap, pants, socks and belt (if wanted). Cleats are required. Cups are required for all male participants. Gloves are available for families in need of financial assistance. Bats, balls, and helmets to be provided by Near West Recreation.
