AIChE PD2M awards are presented annually to professionals and students that make outstanding contributions to the field of pharmaceutical discovery, development and manufacturing. Award nominations will be accepted in the following categories;

Outstanding Contribution to QbD for Drug Substance, sponsored by Mettler Toledo
•
Outstanding Contribution to QbD for Drug Product, sponsored by Pfizer
•
Excellence in Integrated QbD Practice, sponsored by Merck
•
The PD2M Student Award, sponsored by Pfizer
Selection criteria and nomination instructions for each award are provided below. The QbD Drug Substance, QbD Drug Product and Integrated QbD Practice awardees will receive a commemorative plaque and $1,500. The recipient of the PD2M Student Award will receive a plaque and $5,000, which is intended to fund travel expenses to the Annual AIChE meeting.
PD2M is responsible for coordinating the nomination and selection process for all the awards. Nominations for 2022 are now being accepted. The nomination period will close 17 June, 2022 (New date). Award presentations will occur at a special reception ceremony during the AIChE Annual Meeting. In 2022, the annual meeting will be held November 13 – 18, 2022 in Phoenix, AZ.

Outstanding Contribution to QbD for Drug Substance and Drug Product
•
Nominees should have a Track Record of publications, articles, white papers, etc. in QbD discovery, development and manufacturing.
•
Nominees should have Visibility and Credibility through presentations and leadership at professional conferences, topical and alliance meetings and/or other public forums.
•
The impact of nominees work on industry approaches and strategies in QbD development will be a consideration.
•
Nominees may be from Industry, Academia, Regulatory or other relevant working environments.
•
Nominees may be from any nation, working at any location worldwide.
•
There are no age or experience limits for nominees.
•
All nominees must be AIChE members. Preference is given to work that features Chemical Engineering.
Excellence in Integrated QbD Practice
•
The awardee will be selected from presentations made at the 2021AIChE Annual Meeting.
•
The awardee’s work should demonstrate advancement of QbD practices in an integrated way with two or more of the following attributes:
1. Work that draws R&D and manufacturing into closer alignment and execution
2. Integration across different value streams (e.g., drug substance, drug product, and primary packaging)
3. The use of models across more than one value stream
4. Integrated use of the ICH “quality quartet:” Q8, Q9, Q10, and Q11.

Awardees may be working in Industry, Academia, Regulatory or other relevant working environments.
•
Awardees may be from any nation, working at any location worldwide.
•
There are no age or experience limits for awardees.
•
All awardees must be AIChE members. Preference is given to work that features Chemical Engineering.
The PD2M Student Award
•
The Student Award will be selected based the nominee’s contributions to the research in or application of innovative solutions to technological problems, and/or commercialization of new pharmaceutical processes and products.
•
This award is for research done while enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. The nominee must be a student at the time the nomination is submitted.
•
Nominations may be submitted for students from any nation, studying in any location.
