Prairie Debut Call for Artists "Close to Home"
Prairie Debut invites emerging and established professional Canadian classical and world musicians currently residing in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, to be part of a special Prairie Debut roster of artists for concerts "Close to Home". Prairie Debut aims to engage audiences, support local presenters and facilitate performances for Prairie-based artists as opportunities arise for physically distanced and/or digital performances during the 2020-2021 season.

Applicant Requirements

– May be individual artists or small ensembles (up to 4 people)
– Artists with demonstrated excellence in their chosen instrument and are recognized as professional in their discipline by their peers.
– Artists must currently reside full-time in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba
– Canadian citizens or have permanent resident status as defined by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
– All artists or members of the ensemble must hold a valid driver's license, be eligible to drive a rental vehicle, and are comfortable with highway driving in variable weather conditions.

PROPOSED PROGRAM: Suggest an interesting and innovative 60-minute program. All selected applicants will be required to include Canadian work(s) on their performance program. *
ARTISTIC VISION: Please describe the artist vision for your program and how the program appeals to diverse audiences, especially those who are not familiar with classical or world music (200 words). *
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Include a list of all instruments and equipment that the artists will bring, specific technical requirements, and any potential logistical concerns regarding instrument transportation, any instruments which must be supplied by the venue (eg. grand piano) *
SOCIAL MEDIA: List Facebook, Instagram handles, website link etc.
VIDEO SUPPORT MATERIALS
Files may be submitted together as one link or up to a maximum of 3 separate links.

PERFORMANCE VIDEOS: Submit links to recent live performance video and recordings. Two contrasting works are encouraged. Please include name of artist/ensemble in the title of your video. If applying as a group, and group recordings are not available, recent videos/recordings of each member of the group are acceptable. Group recordings are strongly recommended.

INTRODUCTORY VIDEO: (Approximately 2 minutes in length) This is an opportunity to introduce yourselves and show your personality! Tell us something interesting about your group, proposed program, and why audiences should come see your performance. The introduction may be submitted by one artist, though inclusion of full ensemble is preferred. (ipad/phone quality video and links to unlisted Youtube files are acceptable)

ARTIST SELECTION PROCESS

Applications are reviewed by a panel of jurors from across Canada. All applications will be considered by Prairie Debut's Artistic Selection Committee, but only successful artists will be notified.
