Legislative Advocacy Committee Interest Form 2025-2026
About LAC's Mission
The Legislative Advocacy Committee (LAC) is responsible for representing UCR undergraduate students in local, state and federal government relations and affairs to ensure that all students have access to an affordable, accessible and quality education. Legislative advocacy committee members participate in student advocacy through methods of public comment, lobbying, connecting with our representatives and more. Joining this committee will grant its members the privilege to travel to the general Riverside/IE area, our state capitol Sacramento, and Washington D.C. on behalf of ASUCR Office of External Affairs or through UC Student Association Conferences. We are committed to empowering and uplifting the voices of marginalized students and communities.

Committee Membership Overview
The only requirement is you must be an undergraduate. Committee members often meet with legislators and staff virtually and in-person to discuss pressing issues affecting UCR and UC students at a system-wide level. This is often done through lobbying. There is no prior lobbying experience required. We train committee members on how to lobby and offer resources to help members become well-rounded student advocates. Our first meeting and details will be emailed to accepted committee members in October. If you're interested in checking out last year's committee content feel free to look/follow our IG @asucrexternal.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email Joseph Anastacio (janas004@ucr.edu) and cc Eva Raul (eraul002@ucr.edu).
