Thoughtful Presents is a special collection of gifts for sale at THiNK in NG. It will be curated by:
Kelly Ann Holmes, a renowned Nottingham artist working in recycled materials and winner of the Judges' prize in our 2017 Open Exhibition Sarah Maloy - co-founder of Nottingham Zero Waste Collective, Join the Dots Sustainability and proprietor of the Plastic Free Pop-up Shop at THiNK.It is our response to the commercialisation and waste that characterises much of Christmas gift shopping. Instead we will be offering gifts with meaningful stories. Each producer and their wares will be carefully chosen to reflect the aims of our event which is to promote
• Creative use of recycled materials • Local independent producers and makers (within 50 miles of NG1 2ED)• Zero Waste, no unnecessary packaging • Ethical trading (including gifts that support charitable projects overseas) • Understanding of the providence of food and materials • Sustainability and considered use of materials• Originality and innovation
How will Thoughtful Presents work? This is a specially selected collection so it won't be like the usual craft fair or maker's market. Instead Kelly and Sarah will design, market and staff our unique Thoughtful Presents pop-up shop each weekend and sell on your behalf. This leaves you free to spend your December weekends selling at other events or in other activities. To apply please read the details below carefully. • To apply to be part of the collection you must submit the following by 29th October. o complete and return this form o send us the images and prices of the products you wish to sell by email to firstname.lastname@example.org • We will let you know if you have been successful and Kelly and Sarah will be in touch to discuss your products and quantities with you.• There is no charge for this selection process but see the information on participation fees below.
If your application is successful• The participation fee is £75 per weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) or £185 for all three weekends payable in advance, plus 20% of sales. This includes card processing fees. • Kelly and Sarah are designing a creative pop-up shop layout for the collection and will agree with you the range and quantities of your products to be sold. We may hold some stock to be able to replenish as your items sell. • Proceeds from your sales will be paid directly into your bank account. This will be no more than 21 days following your weekend.• Work is submitted at your own risk, whilst we will take every care, we cannot accept liability for any damage.• You must bring your products (as agreed with Sarah and Kelly) to THiNK on either the Wednesday or Thursday prior to your weekend (Timings will be agreed nearer to the time). All unsold unsold products must be collected on the Sunday of your last weekend, between 4-7pm. • All work must be supplied with: o a price tag or sticker including a code which Kelly and Sarah will allocate to you o written label /display material with the story of their product• You will be invited to participate in a Meet the Makers reception on the Friday evening of your weekend. You do not have to do this but may wish to do so.. • We will tell your story and promote the shopping weekends through social media, press releases and printed flyers. This will begin as soon as we confirm participants so you will benefit from promotional activity beyond the event itself. You will be able to use the Thoughtful Presents logo on your own publicity and tell others that you have been selected as part of the special collection.
