Horace J. "Harry" Amaral Scholarship Application

Harry Amaral worked in the financial aid office at the University of Rhode Island until his passing in 2010. He assisted thousands of students with their financial aid and also influenced a great many people in the Rhode Island financial aid industry. Many members of the Rhode Island Association of Financial Aid Administrators, RIASFAA, were work-study or graduate assistants for him. Because of his passion and mentoring in the financial aid profession, a scholarship has been established for RI residents attending a RI university/college as an undergraduate student.


One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one recipient.


Criteria

In order to qualify as an applicant, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Rhode Island resident

  • Be currently enrolled at a RI College/University that is a current member of RIASFAA and continuing enrollment for 26/27 year

  • Demonstrate financial need (Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file)

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree

  • Preference is given to students working in a financial aid office
