NLVS Chapter Board Position Descriptions
Chapter President:
The Chapter President ensures that the chapter board is running smoothly and that the board members are participating actively on both chapter and committee levels. The President helps all board members with fundraising, community service, education, and health care efforts serving as the NLVS point-person for their institution. The President also ensures that the chapter is compliant with the medical school/university regulations and that the chapter is successfully registered as a student organization. The President meets with all other chapter presidents in a committee led by the Executive Board Vice-President and Secretary and helps organize the annual NLVS-wide retreat.

Fundraising/Publicity/Treasurer:
The role of the Fundraising/Publicity/Treasurer committee member is to work with the Fundraising Chair and all other committee members to raise funds through outreach efforts to support the volunteering society and free clinic and to appropriately account for funds in a timely manner. These efforts also include working closely with the executive board Treasurer to write and submit grants. The Fundraising/Publicity/Treasurer committee plans, organizes, and oversees the largest fundraiser of the year, the NLVS Silent Auction & Gala, as well as other fundraising events throughout the year. The Fundraising/Publicity/Treasurer committee member also organizes fundraisers at their school and is responsible for advertising and promoting NLVS, our free health clinic, and all events affiliated with NLVS.

Student & Physician Involvement/Patient Services:
The Student & Physician Involvement/Patient Services committee member helps recruit both student and physician volunteers for all clinic, fundraising, and charitable events, as well as for our regular clinic each Saturday. The committee member also helps conduct student orientation and recruitment events twice a year, works with chapter members to help ensure that all events have enough personnel, and works to expand the physician database. The committee member also helps make certain that all patients at our free clinic receive comprehensive quality care and expands the range of sustainable services that are offered at the clinic. The committee participates in numerous projects throughout the year that improve the quality of care provided to our patients. Some of these projects include assessment of current services offered, patient referral services, translation services, subspecialty clinics, and our Shared Medical Appointments program.

Health Education/Tutoring:
The Health Education/Tutoring committee organizes health education projects, which take place at the clinic, outside healthcare functions, and at the various schools affiliated with NLVS. In addition, they help create and revise all health information documents used to educate people in need. The committee helps with the production of educational materials and establishes ties with various community organizations in efforts to expand health education opportunities. The committee also aims to organize tutoring activities on an NLVS-wide level including student volunteers from all chapters. The committee ensures that all tutoring sessions have enough tutors, maintains and expands a tutoring database, and makes NLVS volunteers aware of additional tutoring opportunities.

Community Service/Global Health:
The Community Service/Global Health committee is responsible for providing quality community service opportunities in the local area, setting up new relationships while also building upon existing programs. The committee also helps establish ties with programs globally, to set up relationships with national and international relief efforts in the face of natural disasters, and creates plans for students to aid in global efforts by going on mission trips or forming other sorts of support methods remotely.
