As you all know, celebrities and other high-profile individuals speaking out about sexual violence have helped to raise awareness and make an impact on our movement in recent years. As we consider candidates for the 2018 Visionary Voice Awards, we are conscious of the need to strike a balance between honoring the essential work being done by local advocates on the ground in their communities while also celebrating the efforts of high-profile individuals at the state and national levels.
With that in mind, we hope you'll consider nominating well-known figures, from your state or working in your state, who have been in the news over the past year for their contributions to sexual violence prevention. Our hope is to honor a mix of individuals to demonstrate the depth and breadth of our movement.
About the awards:State, territory, and tribal coalitions select an outstanding individual to nominate for the awards each year. Nominees may be partners from a local community or other outstanding individuals that have worked to end sexual violence. The NSVRC encourages coalitions to connect with local programs in their area for nomination suggestions, but final submissions must be completed by a state, territory or tribal coalition.
The deadline is Friday, December 1, 2017.
1. Nominees that have received this award in the past will not be considered.
2. Nominees must be submitted by a state, territory or tribal sexual assault coalition (only one nominee per coalition).
3. The NSVRC reserves the right to edit the biographies for publication.
