Together We Will Henrico Statement on Board of Supervisor O'Bannon's December 10th Resolution
The members of Together We Will Henrico (TWWH) join other Henrico citizens in condemning the actions of Tuckahoe Board of Supervisor, Pat O’Bannon, at the December 10, 2019 meeting where she proposed a surprise resolution asking all Board of Supervisors to declare they would uphold the United States and Virginia Constitutions. On December 11, 2019, the Board of Supervisors will be sworn in and at that time they will swear to uphold both documents.
This resolution was an act of political theater to placate a push by the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) to make Henrico a 2A sanctuary city. TWWH would like to remind Ms. O’Bannon that all counties in Virginia must uphold all state and federal laws, not only the ones they personally agree with.
The members of TWWH support Governor Northam and the Democratic majorities’ call for gun safety measures which will make Virginia and Henrico safer while still upholding the 2nd amendment right for citizens. We expect Ms. O’Bannon and all board members to uphold their duty as elected officials to enforce any new laws enacted based on the work of the General Assembly's 2020 session.
**Together We Will Henrico's mission is to provide a framework for progressive political activism for Henrico County residents. Our purpose is to create community, foster connections, and provide opportunities for engagement.**
