DIY Blood Lab with Eli Lynn & Shane Dreher

A space for experimentation with all things stage blood & blood packs. We’ll provide ingredients, recipes, and chat through all the possibilities to find the cocktail that works best for your production.

Paints Deep Dive: Wood Graining with Keri Kelly
4/13, 10am-3pm, PSW Scene Shop (2855 Emerald St)
Taught by PSW's Lead Painter Keri Kelly. We joke that 90% of scenic painting is making wood look like other wood! It's usually not that much, but wood graining is a technique that is absolutely essential for any scenic painter or DIYer. In this workshop, we'll explore a few different methods and styles of making your wood look like wood!

Carpentry: Building a Platform with David deWeil
4/20, 1pm-5pm, PSW Scene Shop (2855 Emerald St)
The platform is the groundwork (pun intended) for a lot of scenery, and building a floor that can withstand Juliet on her balcony or 12 tap dancing sailors is no easy feat! Join Technical Director Dave deWeil as he demonstrates a few different techniques for building platforms, shares which is his favorite, and lets you try your hand at building a few!

If you've ever ventured down the hardware aisle at your local improvement store, you surely know the overwhelming number of options for fasters that are available. But when to use a screw or a bolt or a nail? And what type of screw? And why is a lag bolt actually a screw?
