With funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) 2021 Build to Scale Venture Challenge, the Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI) is orchestrating the Global Health Innovation Challenge (GHIC) from the Washington, D.C./Maryland /Virginia region (DMV).
The GHIC will source/launch more than 60 high-growth startups over three years to address global health threats using technology. Startups launched from GHIC will have minority and women founders as well as those that are underemployed. Participants will receive workforce training and valuable entrepreneurial skills. Startups will raise capital, boost commercialization, and create jobs. GHIC activities will be virtual and in person in an Opportunity Zone on the former Walter Reed Campus in Washington, D.C.
For this challenge, we are looking for entrepreneurs to form startups or to enroll with existing startups. We are also looking for subject matter experts to recruit, mentor, advise, or judge teams, competing for the opportunity to launch startups. If you're interested in learning more about the challenge, then please submit this form.
By submitting your information, CAI will send you updates on the challenge and work with you to find a role that matches your interests and bandwidth. Please email the challenge admin at
