Transitioning Your Child from Elementary to Middle School
Parents of our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are invited to attend a series of workshops on “Transitioning Your Child from Elementary to Middle School”. Many parents have requested more information on what to expect for middle school and the transition you and your child will be making. This is the 9th year presenting these workshops to our families. The response in the past has been very positive.

If you have any questions please contact Myrna Perez-Fung, Parent Coordinator, at 929-600-5683. She can also be reached by email at mperez-fung@schools.nyc.gov.

Below are the dates and a brief description of the different topics that will be discussed on that day. Please check off the classes you and fill out the registration below the offerings. Thank you.

Hope to see you there!

Workshop #1
The 1st workshop will be an interactive class where parents can formulate strategies to assist their child with the transition. There will also be a brief overview of the other workshops that will be offered.
Workshop #2 - Social and Emotional
The 2nd workshop will have a guest speaker, Ms. Camille Satchwell, our School Social Worker, who will provide parents with an overview of the social and emotional adjustments your children will be experiencing and how you can support them. We will also discuss the importance of these workshops and what resources you will have available to you at the middle school.
Workshop #3 - What to expect?
For our 3rd workshop, Mrs. Debbie Hochrad, Parent Coordinator of M.S. 172, will go into more depth on expectations, smooth transitioning tactics and will provide you firsthand knowledge of what to expect.
Workshop #4 - Social Media and the Internet
The 4th and final workshop in the series will be the pros and cons of “Social Media and the Internet”.
