Democratic Party of Washoe County is pleased to announce a new committee;

The Veterans, Family & Friends Committee, will hold its first meeting on Thursday, August 6th from 4pm-6pm at Democratic Party Headquarters, 1465 Terminal Way, Reno. This will be a potluck, so please bring your favorite dish!

We will be hosting a meeting every first Thursday of the month.

Attendees will discuss our mission and goals and finalize them.

John Corbin, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam era, will share stories about his father, who served as a B-17 crew member during World War II.

Proposed Mission: 

The Veterans, Family and Friends Committee will exist to advance and support policies that support veterans, active-duty military, and their family members.

A proposed summary of the committee’s goals is below:  

1. Advocate for Veterans’ Rights and Dignity

2. Strengthening Local Support Systems

3. Elevate Veteran voices in the Democratic Party

4. Build Community and Connection Among Veterans

5. Promote Equity and Inclusion Within the Veteran Community

6. Educate and Inform the Public

7. Support Veteran Leadership in Public Service

8. Hold accountable Federal, state and local officials and candidates for supporting issues affecting Veterans, active-duty military their family members
