The John S. Butler Unsung Hero Award is an annual recognition that highlights a staff or faculty member who has shown outstanding dedication to fostering entrepreneurship among students. This award is unique because it's nominated by graduate students themselves, making it a testament to the direct impact these individuals have had on student entrepreneurship.
Staff support can manifest in various ways:
- Mentoring: Providing guidance, advice, and industry insights to students pursuing entrepreneurial ventures.
- Networking: Introducing students to relevant contacts, investors, and professionals in their field of interest.
- Resources: Offering access to funding opportunities, workspace, and educational materials to facilitate student ventures.
- Advocacy: Championing student initiatives within the university and advocating for resources and support on their behalf.
- Education: Delivering workshops, seminars, or courses that equip students with essential entrepreneurial skills and knowledge.
These are just a few examples of how staff members can contribute to the entrepreneurial journey of students and warrant recognition through the John S. Butler Award.
We are accepting nominations for the inaugural award through Sunday, April 20, 2025. The award recipient will be announced at the TVL Investment Competition on Friday, May 2, 2025 during the TVLIC Finals ceremony.
