Dear gamer,
We are a research team from The University of Salford who are interested in the experiences of being a gamer.
1. About the Survey
The following survey is part of a broader project called
GAMEHEARTS, which aims to explore the economic, social, and cultural value of the European videogame industry ecosystem. This survey includes several open questions about your experiences of being a gamer, especially the connection you have made with games and their characters and storylines.
The questions are open and invite you to write as much or as little as you see fit. There are no right or wrong answers. We are interested in your point of view.
2. Who can take the survey
The survey can be filled by anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in video games.
3. Benefits of participating in this study
This survey offers an opportunity for gamers to reflect on their experiences. There are no financial benefits to participating. Instead, your participation will allow us and fellow video games scholars to develop our knowledge on video games and their meaning to gamers.
4. Risks of taking this survey and Anonymisation
The survey asks questions about your emotional connection and responses to video games. The risks of this survey are minimal. Questions about video games do not ask for sensitive information. Any potential discomfort is similar to what participants might experience when discussing favorite examples or contested opinions with others. If you do experience discomfort, there are resources provided at the end of the survey. The survey is anonymised and does not include any intimate questions or details that will expose your identity.
5. Withdrawing from the survey
You are free to leave the study at any time (during the filling out of the survey or after, if you want us to omit your responses from the analysis).
6. Ethics information
The research received ethical approval from the University of Salford.
