All starters must fulfill eight hours of service in one of the following areas:

• Organizing an ultramarathon.
• Volunteering at an ultramarathon (e.g., working an aid station, course marking, sweeping).
• Participating in organized trail work led by a crew leader.
• Note: Pacing another runner does not count.

Service Completion Window:

• 100-mile runners: August 1 of the previous year to July 1 of the race year.
• 50-mile runners: August 1 of the previous year to September 1 of the race year.

Submission Deadline:

• 100-mile runners: July 10 of the race year.
• 50-mile runners: September 10 of the race year.

Late submissions may result in removal from the start list, with your spot forfeited to someone on the waitlist.

Submission Deadline:

The information your provide will be verified by the race director (RD) of the ultra you supported or the trail work crew leader who supervised your work. 

We will contact you if we have trouble verifying the information.  

Opt-Out Fee:

If you cannot perform the required race volunteering or trail work, you have the option of paying a $100 opt-out fee in support of Ouray Trail Group who maintains many of the trails we use.  See the following screenshots for information on how to pay the fee.
