We know that POCI* parents/guardians are BOLD, WISE, RESOURCEFUL & EXPERTS when it comes to knowing what education equity looks like for our children. Voices For Racial Justice is launching a 9-month cohort to support the leadership and vision of POCI parents/guardians in their work for education equity. This opportunity builds on our longstanding racial justice organizing training, by also grounding culture and healing justice. This space is for parents or guardians to share their experiences, develop organizing and leadership skills, and imagine education equity priorities for their children and school communities. As we learn from each other and community experts, fellows will identify issues they care about and develop solutions to the education disparities that are prevalent in their students’ lives. Education Equity Organizing Fellows will receive a small honorarium in recognition of the time commitment of being a part of this cohort.
The cohort sessions will take place during the 2018/2019 school year. We will offer Voices’ organizing and racial justice training, our extensive Education Equity Pathway tools, and connections to other leaders and trainers in the movement using a practice of popular education.
This is a family friendly space.
