ION is a statewide organization with the mission to ensure that Idaho’s youth have access to high-quality out-of-school programs. The Summit is Idaho's only statewide gathering dedicated solely to out-of-school providers. Breakout workshops offer a wide array of training for out-of-school providers to improve the practices and outcomes of their work. Breakout sessions will be offered on Monday afternoon and Tuesday the 10th all throughout the day in 75 minute blocks.
Breakouts should be targeted to address the following focus areas and can address more than one. The sessions will be featured in the Conference brochure with the following areas- it is acceptable to have more than one area noted.
EXPERIENCE-Active Learning - providing social interactions, stimulating physical environments and enriching intellectual opportunities.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT- Understanding the typical benchmarks for youth development, including cultural differences and diverse abilities.-Youth Engagement & Interactions - recognizing the value of relationship building, supporting child- and youth-led efforts, creating partnerships and providing formal and informal mentoring for children and youth to develop voice, choice and leadership.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING -Presentations demonstrate or teach on how we can help children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
PREVENTION-Family, School and Community Relationships - partnering with families, schools and communities to build ongoing, interactive communications that enhance the quality of out-of-school and youth services.-Safety, Health & Wellness - implementing a broad array of prevention, preparedness and health and safety practices.
LEADERSHIP-Program Planning, Development & Leadership - understanding planning, organizing and implementing best business practices for out-of-school programs.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) - Get educators and youth excited about STEM topics and activities!
Breakouts will be selected based on those most effectively addressing the conference mission of providing practical training for out-of-school providers. Breakouts should be clear, interactive and include strategies that participants will be able to implement immediately following the conference.
As a presenter, you will receive the following benefits: • Great networking and connection with 100 + out-of-school program providers statewide• Free registration to the full day and a half of the Summit• Travel arrangements can be made (hotel and flights arranged by ION staff and reimbursement for travel-gasoline costs after accrued) for those that need to travel for more than 60 miles.
Breakout proposals are due by Friday, March 22nd, 2019. All presenters will be notified by Monday, April 1st, 2019 of their selection status. Presenters will have until Monday, April 8th, 2019 to submit a picture and short bio for the website.
