Introducing the welcome fund
The Open Data Institute wants to feature and discuss different angles and perspectives on data, both in the content of the summit and the conversations that happen there. To do that, it's important to us that we not only enable but actively encourage diversity, in our speakers, presenters, performers and the guests who attend.

We will be talking about how to create a future where data works for everyone, so we want the conversation to be inclusive of people from different backgrounds, places, life experiences, ages, and levels of ability.

We appreciate that there can be obstacles for people to attend conferences like the ODI Summit, even online, from the cost of the tickets to the accessibility of the platforms we use. We also recognise that people from some communities face greater barriers to participation such as structural racism, sexism and ableism; we hope that offering free tickets demonstrates both that everyone is welcome at the summit and is a small contribution to greater equity.

Are you eligible?
This year, we are pleased to be able to initially offer free tickets for up to 100 people who fall into any of the following categories:

* people who cannot afford a ticket
* people who face structural disadvantages
* people based in low- and middle-income countries

We will not ask you to prove the above, but just ask you at the end of the form to confirm it's based on a true and genuine requirement.
When will I know if I have support?
From 30 September we will allocate free places to people on a first-come first-served basis.

The event is on Tuesday 2 November 2021.
