Grievance Procedure for Reporting Violations
Students and/or their Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) may file formal written reports regarding any suspected prohibited behavior by sending this grievance to the school’s administration via this electronic form. Such reports should be reasonably specific including person(s) involved, number of times and places of the alleged conduct, the target of the suspected prohibited behavior(s), and the names of any potential student or staff witnesses. Such reports may be filed with any school staff member or administrator, and they shall be promptly forwarded to the School Leader for review, investigation, and action.
Oregon Charter Academy has jurisdiction over Title IX complaints. Individuals that report complaints via this process are guaranteed to be protected against retaliation for filing a grievance. In all cases of reported violations, Oregon Charter Academy will use a propensity of evidence as the evaluative standard used to resolve complaints. The rights established under Title IX must be interpreted consistently with any federally guaranteed due process rights. Individuals have a right to file a criminal complaint and a Title IX complaint simultaneously.
Students and/or their Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) may also make informal complaints of conduct that they consider to be prohibited behavior(s) by verbal report to a teacher, school administrator, or other school personnel. Such informal complaints shall be reasonably specific including person(s) involved, number of times and places of the alleged conduct, the target of suspected prohibited behavior, and the names of any potential student or staff witnesses. This report shall be promptly forwarded by the school staff member and/or administrator to the School Leader for review, investigation, and appropriate action.
