AVID Program Application 2023-24
The goals of the AVID program are college acceptance and college readiness.  

Mission Hills AVID Facts:
► Historically, 90% + of Mission Hills High School AVID seniors are accepted to one or more universities
 of their choice.
► 100% of the AVID Class of 2022 were accepted to at least one university. 
► 100% of last year’s AVID seniors planned to attend college after high school.
► Historically, AVID seniors are awarded over $1 million in grants and scholarships for their first year of college.
► AVID not only helps students prepare for college but helps students to stand out on a college application.
► Largest AVID program in San Diego County
► Highly Certified AVID Site of Distinction

AVID Student Profile:
► Students should have the potential and the desire to attend a four-year college.
► They must have appropriate classroom behavior.
► Generally their G.P.A. is between 2.5 - 4.0.
► They have regular attendance.
► They have good work habits.
► They are willing to commit themselves to homework each night.
► They are willing to enroll in a rigorous college preparatory sequence of courses.
► AVID includes Emerging Bilingual Students.

Write the name of a teacher recommender.   The teacher can be from this school year or last school year. *
Write a 50-100 word paragraph stating why you would like to be in the Mission Hills High School AVID program and what you hope to gain by participating in it. Use your best spelling, grammar, and vocabulary. *
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
