This committee is responsible for planning and executing the ever-growing Young Lawyers Conference held in the spring. This committee suggests a conference theme, plans the conference schedule, arranges for speakers, and coordinates logistics with the help of LSBA staff.

Committee members will be responsible for assisting in the planning or execution of the Young Lawyer Conference. This may include reaching out to potential speakers, moderating events, or assisting with scheduling planning.

This committee oversees the Barristers for Boards Project, which places young lawyers on nonprofit boards or committees throughout the state. The committee solicits young lawyer participants and organizations from the Louisiana non-profit community (who meet certain criteria), then conduct โ€œMeet and Greetโ€ sessions to assist in matching young lawyers with non-profit organizations and placing the young lawyer volunteers into available non-profit board or committee positions. The committee also coordinates training sessions for the young lawyer participants with non-profit organizations.

Committee members will be responsible for assisting in the planning or execution of the Barristers for Boards event. This may include reaching out to non-profit organizations; moderating the event; planning education for the young lawyer board member hopefuls; and assisting with planning. Applicants with non-profit board service are ideal.

This committee is response for the execution of the Wills for Heroes program, which is a way for lawyers to support and salute the important work of first responders. Lawyer volunteers provide free wills and other estate documents for first responders and also for their spouses or domestic partners. The LSBA Young Lawyers Division joined the national Wills for Heroes effort in 2009 and to date has provided hundreds of documents for first responders. This Committee hosts several events throughout the year all across the state.

Committee members will be responsible for assisting in the planning or execution of a Wills for Heroes event. This committee values geographic diversity amongst its members.

This committee is responsible for working with regional coordinators on local mock trial competitions for high schools throughout the state, and for sponsoring a statewide meet where all local winners compete. The state winner then travels to compete in the National High School Mock Trial Competition.
