Campaign for College Opportunity Student Leadership Institute Application Form
The Campaign for College Opportunity’s Student Leadership Institute empowers college students to become effective advocates on their own behalf and on behalf of their peers. The program will offer leadership and skills-building training to empower participants to engage in the higher education policy process, network with professionals, and advocate on critical higher education issues that directly impact them. Student Leaders will participate in bi-monthly 3-hour training and advocacy sessions that will equip them with the information and tools to be agents of social change within their own college campus. Student Leaders will also have the opportunity to participate in advocacy events at the State Capitol in Sacramento and speak in front of system-wide governing Board and local community college Board meetings.

Each session will include an interactive presentation on a specific policy issue, followed by a guest speaker in the related profession. Sessions will conclude with a call to action activity that requires students to utilize their newly acquired skill set through practical experience at their respective higher education institution.

The program will launch in October 2019 and end in May 2020. Student Leaders will be provided with a stipend of $500 in recognition of their time and will be reimbursed for cost of travel (mileage). Student Leaders are expected to be present at all bi-monthly meetings. Students who miss more than two sessions will automatically be disqualified from receiving a stipend.
