TB ace McClanahan gets Tommy John surgery
Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan undergoes Tommy John surgery.

Tampa Bay coach Kevin Cash announced in an interview with local media such as the "Tampa Bay Times" on the 16th that McClanahan will undergo Tommy John surgery.

Considering the rehabilitation period of Tommy John surgery, which usually takes 12 to 18 months, McClanahan will not be able to play most of the 2024 season as well as the rest of the season. A return in 2025 is realistic.

McClanahan pitched in an away game against the New York Yankees on the 3rd, but was sluggish with 5 hits, 2 home runs, 3 strikeouts, and 5 runs in 4 innings, and was later on the injured list due to symptoms of tension in the left arm.

Since then, Coach Cash has said that he is unlikely to return within the season and that he is "considering all options," but he seems to have chosen Tommy John surgery in the end.

McClanahan, a 2018 draft first - round pick, made his big league debut in the 2020 postseason.

Since then, it has quickly become a pillar of the team's starting lineup. In the past three seasons, he has pitched in 74 games and 404 2/3 innings, recording 33 wins, 16 losses and a 3.02 ERA.

He was selected as an All-Star for two consecutive seasons in 2022 and 2023 and started as an All-Star in the American League in the 2022 All-Star Game. 스포츠토토

McClanahan will record a two-year, 158-day service time at the end of this season. By 2027, the race club can exercise its holdings.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay, which previously lost starting pitchers such as Shane Baz, Josh Fleming, Drew Rasmussen and Jeffrey Springs to injury, lost another valuable starting resource to injury.
