Day 1: The Self Care Social is an evening mixer aimed at cultivating a safe space for female identified youth and young adults to explore the intersections of their identities, bond with other participants and learn practical approaches to self-care through interactive activities and workshops. The Self Care Social is the ultimate cultural celebration of sisterhood and radical self-love. Participants will leave with tools and resources to cultivate self-care in their personal lives, as well as create a shared vision on ways to maintain their physical and emotional well-being beyond our safe space. The evening will commence with a sisterhood dinner for attendees to network with other young women from Brownsville.
Day 2: The Sisterhood Empowerment Symposium is a day-long forum, aimed at connecting Brownsville youth to women of color influencers, trailblazer’s, entrepreneurs, political figures and activist across the nation. The summit aims to create a space of connectivity, inspiration and holistic healing, while redefining negative narratives surrounding female identified youth of color. This summit is youth led and planned by our program members. Participants will engage in a mix of plenary sessions, interactive workshops and experiential dialogue focused on their intersection of racial and gender identity, self-esteem, and holistic wellness. Through each interactive workshop, plenary session, and communal dialogue; participants will have a safe space to explore the complexities of their identities and build connections around their feelings and experiences, in an environment that supports their collective healing.
