Criteria for receiving the Exemplary Middle School/Junior High String Teacher Award are:

Solo and Ensemble Participation – include date and location

Effective recruiting – Examples of outreach to neighborhood/feeder elementary schools.

Mentoring of new teachers – This may include student teachers, college interns, mentoring new teachers in your district in the induction program or helping out a new colleague.

Evidence of good transition from Middle School/Junior High to High School -numbers of students continuing.

Evidence of professional development – documentation from the school district or from the University where credit is earned.

Evidence of active advocacy for music in your district or at the state level – (examples may include:  participation in local concerts and festivals, classroom performances, meetings with principals and parents groups, etc.)

Leadership in the profession - Holding an office in a professional organization, district committees for music or teachers.  Presenter at state or national convention.

Member of the Board of CASTA or service on one of the CASTA committees.
