High School Sexual Health Curriculum Adoption: Review Night RSVP
Battle Ground Public Schools is considering the adoption of a sexual health curriculum for grades 9-12, and is providing opportunities to review the curriculum and ask questions and provide comments. **As space is limited, please sign up only if you are certain that you can attend. Priority will be given to parents. Please submit a new form for each attendee.
The High School Health/Sexual Health Committee has spent the last year surveying the community and identifying proposed curriculum materials to be considered by the School Board for the teaching of high school sexual health. The committee determined, based on a community survey and the available curricula that meet the state learning standards, that Battle Ground Public Schools would use a combination of products and resources to create a customized curriculum. The proposed curriculum is a compilation of lessons from the Center for Disease Control, Family Life and Sexual Health, Positive Prevention Plus, and the district's high school health textbook, Essential Health.
Opportunities to review the proposed high school sexual health curriculum include two curriculum review nights and by appointment at the district office. Curriculum review nights will be held:
6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the Battle Ground High School media center. Please RSVP.
4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 in the Prairie High School media center. Please RSVP.
REVIEW BY APPOINTMENT
The materials will also be available to review by appointment from Sept. 9 to Oct. 4 at the district office. Please call (360) 885-5391 to make an appointment.
