Support for Families During School Closure
During this time of school closures, Virginia Public Schools have been asked to support our families who are employed in the emergency services.
The Governor has defined emergency services workers as: providers of healthcare, emergency medical services, long-term and post-acute care; law enforcement personnel; personnel providing correctional services; public health employees; firefighters and other first responders; and court personnel. Please refer to MDE's full list at the following link (It will open a PDF):
Recipients of childcare must be school-aged children Kindergarten through 12 years who are enrolled in the school district. You will be contacted to discuss your individual childcare needs.
If you have alternative childcare or a spouse working from home, please consider taking advantage of that. Our district is still attempting to limit large groups of children. Please complete this form if you fit the above guidelines and are in need of childcare.
All children K-12 will be offered bagged breakfast and lunch (consisting of a sandwich, vegetable, fruit and milk) Both meals are made available to be picked up at the Virginia High School from 8:30am-10:30am at Door #6, or your student's designated bus stop at approximately 2 hours after their normal pick-up times. Families that lack transportation or with a medically fragile child can request that food be delivered directly to their residence. Free and reduced students will be the first priority, however other paying students can be added if necessary and your account will be charged accordingly.
Only fill out this form if you have childcare or breakfast/lunch needs.
Families are required to provide transportation to and from their school site.
