"Reimagine Our Future" Facility Planning Survey

Alpena Public Schools is developing a long-term Facility Master Plan to ensure that our buildings and learning environments reflect the needs of today’s students and responsibly serve future generations.

As good stewards of community resources, we must plan carefully to balance educational quality, operational efficiency, and community identity.

To guide this work, two preliminary Master Plan Scenarios have been developed. Each scenario takes a different approach to:

  • grade configurations and how students move through our schools,
  • how early childhood and specialized programs are organized,
  • which facilities are renovated, added to, or repurposed, and
  • how we can right-size our buildings while expanding learning opportunities.

This survey is not about choosing a final plan. Instead, it’s an opportunity for the Alpena community to share perspectives on what feels most important — the values, priorities, and trade-offs that should shape future decisions.

Your input will help the Board of Education and district leadership refine a single, community-aligned plan that ensures Alpena Public Schools remains strong, sustainable, and student-centered for years to come.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and help us plan responsibly for Alpena’s future.
