2020 Counselor Application form
I am asking ALL returning and new counselors to fill this form out as HONESTLY and completely as you can. Take your time and be thoughtful please. When I receive the form I may call you to talk some more. I want you to THINK about WHY you want to be a counselor. I believe working with clear intention and specific goals actively in mind will bring out the best in you! If you would rather fill this out OUT LOUD I am happy to interview you and fill out the form as we talk. Just call me in that case: 919-542-5599. My goal is to provide solid training and support for counselors. This application is the first step towards that goal. Please call me if YOU want to talk more or have questions about camp.

NOTE: If you are interested in LEAD COUNSELOR or INTERN POSITIONS please START by filling out this form and indicate your interest below. There will be additional steps when applying for these positions, but this is the place to start.

NEW IN 2020--- Art Party Counselors will be expected to attend Art Party Trainings which will be offered starting in January or February.

TIME LINE and PROCESS FOR HIRING---- I will begin confirming counselors for summer camps in JANUARY and FEBRUARY and will continue this process until positions are filled. I encourage all counselors to fill out this form by the end of JANUARY if possible, or by the end of FEBRUARY at the latest. That said, I will continue to review applications as they come in.

I do expect ALL counselors to initiate your hiring process by filling out this application. This lets me know that camp is a priority for you.

VOLUNTEER and PAID POSITIONS----Paid positions do tend to get filled early, so getting this application in early increases your chances of being considered for a paid position. Counselors with prior experience, excellent leadership, and who have shown that they are excellent role models both at camp and in their lives, who work well with others, take care of themselves, connect with campers, work hard, enrich camp, listen well, communicate well and embrace the spirit of camp----- will be given priority for paid positions. Many counselors work as both VOLUNTEERS and PAID Counselors in one season. I try and give all qualified counselors at least one PAID position if applications are received in a timely way.

For example (this is Louise's answer to this question!) : I am Japanese on my mothers side and Russian Jewish on my father's side. I love making Japanese food and origami and am always interested in learning stories from both sides of my family. My family in general includes many races and religions---- I have a Hindu uncle from India, a Catholic uncle from an Italian family, my children are African American. I was a leader in a project where people learned and told stories from their faith backgrounds- and worked with Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Christian, Muslim and Jewish communities as part of that project and learned a lot!
