Letter welcoming Gardner to the final Congress of his senate term
January 3, 2019

The Honorable Senator Cory Gardner
United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Senator Gardner,

On this first day of the 116th U.S. Congress, we, your constituents, implore you to use your influence to restore sanity to our government. We know you swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The time is long past for Republican Senators of integrity to exercise their authority to check the egregious abuses of the executive branch. The history of this period will show that those who did not seize the opportunity to oppose Trump’s corruption enabled it by their inaction. We hope you choose to stand for the truly American values of honesty, equality, and fairness.

Regardless of your choice, know that Indivisible groups across Colorado will pursue their missions of ensuring an informed citizenry and empowering citizens to participate in the political process. The outcome of the recent election shows that the people of Colorado overwhelmingly reject the Trump agenda and desire a government that works for everyone. This result is due in no small part to the efforts of Indivisible groups and similar organizations across Colorado. We love our country, and we want it to be the land of opportunity for all people of good will, regardless of how they look or what they call themselves. When you act consistently with this goal, we will be the first to praise you. But we will also be vocal in our criticism when you do otherwise.

Best regards,
