This is a survey to gather information about what (if anything) different people pretended the ground was made of when they climbed around on furniture or playground equipment and refused to touch the ground. In recent years this game is mostly talked about as "The Floor Is Lava", but it seems like for a lot of people the floor was quicksand, or glass, or something entirely different. Based on age? Based on location? I dunno, I'm interested in finding out!
This survey has three sections - a few questions about you, a few about the imaginary floors of your childhood, and then how you're okay with me using your information. In total it should take five minutes or so to fill out.
If you'd like to fill out the survey on someone else's behalf and relay their answers to me, that's also great. Or if you're an adult and play the game a lot now, feel free to answer for your current self!
WHO I AM: I'm Holly Gramazio (http://hollygramazio.net). I'm not a proper researcher. I'm just a game designer who's interested in finding out, once and for all, what the floor is.
WHAT I'LL DO WITH THIS INFORMATION: I won't make the whole set of responses public, but if I get enough results I'll make some maps and graphs etc and pop them online. I may also quote some individual answers, with permission. You don't need to leave your email address, but you can if you want; if you do I won't add you to a mailing list, but I'll email you once with a link when the survey results are out. I'm using Google Forms for this, so the data may be stored on servers outside the EU.
