Journey Home Animal Rescue Adoption Application
Greetings! Thank you for your interest in adopting through Journey Home Animal Rescue.

PLEASE READ BELOW INFORMATION:
The adoption application has many questions that will help us match owners to the right pet.  Don't worry about having the perfect answers, just answer truthfully.  We ask some questions that a new pet owner might not have considered and may find helpful to think about prior to bringing a pet home and to help find a lifelong match.

The adoption application is the first step in meeting the pet you are interested in adopting.  Please fill in all the fields as the application can not be submitted with blank fields. We do background checks and call references.

--> We do require all animals in the home to be spayed or neutered and up to date on annual care.

--> It is important to apply at the time you are ready to adopt as we cannot hold pets or process an application if you are not ready to adopt the pet at that time (including vacations). We do a lot of up-front work when you submit an application and try to process it in a timely manner, and ask you do the same.

If your preferred pet is already pending or unavailable, we are committed to finding you a match!

If you have not already read through our website, please read the informational adoption pages as they will give you many answers and information on how our organization processes applications and more about our adoption process.

You are applying to adopt through Journey Home Animal Rescue. We want to know what particular animal you may be interested in, however the approval process is NOT specific for that particular pet, but to adopt in general. Meaning, you do not have to submit an application for every individual pet you may be interested in. We process the one application per adoption, contact you when it has been completed, and then match you up with the pet(s). Any questions, please email info@journeyhomeanimalrescue.org. All correspondence handled through email.

Journey Home Animal Rescue does their very best to keep the website and social media as up to date as possible. I understand that the pet I am interested in may not be available and Journey Home will do the best to provide recommendations or place me on the waiting list. *
I understand in order to keep my place in line for the pet I am interested in, I must reply within 48 hours of each e-mail communication or Journey Home will move to the next application in line. *
I understand that Journey Home Animal Rescue adoption fees are non-refundable once an adoption finalizes. This includes situations where the pet is surrendered back to Journey Home Animal Rescue. *
How did you hear about Journey Home Animal Rescue? *
If you would like to add any notes to your application, please do so here. We look forward to working with you to find one of our pets a forever home.
Occasionally we receive more than one application on a specific animal. Applications are approved and considered in the order in which they are received. If the pet you applied for gets approved for another adopter (because their application was received first), we will strive to help find you a great fit for your family. *
Required
Thank you for your interest in adopting from Journey Home Animal Rescue!  We are volunteer ran so please be patient as we process your application.  The adoption process is highlighted below. If you do not hear from a home visit coordinator within 10 days, please contact us at info@journeyhomeanimalrescue.org. Also please note applications outside of Grand Forks and Fargo areas take longer to process as we need to find a rescue volunteer to assist with the home visit. Thank you and have a great day.  All correspondence handled through email info@journeyhomeanimalrescue.org                    *
Required
Step 1 -  Research and plan. Bringing a new pet into your family and home is extremely exciting decision. We want to help prepare you and the pet for success and make sure the decision is well and thought out.  Have a plan for what you will do in cases of an emergency, when you are going to vacation, and/or doing obedience classes with your newly adopted pet, etc.                             *
Required
Step 2 - Make sure your pets are current on vaccinations and altered. Ensure with your landlord (if applicable) you are allowed to have a pet. We will carefully review your application, complete background checks, call veterinary references and personal references.  We contact your veterinary and personal references to ensure all current and/or deceased pets were properly taken care of, including current on all vaccinations and altered.  We require all animals in the home to be either spayed or neutered. Journey Home Animal Rescue reserves the right to deny any applications that we deem unfit or unsuitable for the animal. This process can take up to 10 days at times. *
Required
Step 3 - CURRENT STEP! Complete an adoption application.  If you have additional questions on pets, it is best to fill out an application as this will initiate communication.  The adoption application is for your to tell us about yourself and the environment your pet will be living in, and your lifestyle. We would like to know as much as we can to help ensure a good match for a successful, lifelong relationship.                                                                                                                          *
Required
Step 4 - You will be contacted for a home visit by an authorized Journey Home Animal Rescue representative. This is an informal opportunity for us to get to know you and answer additional questions you may have.                                                                                                                                                              *
Required
Step 5 - After the above steps are completed and processed, you will receive an email of approval or denial. An approved application means you can adopt from Journey Home. It does not always mean you will be adopting the animal applied for. Once approved we will discuss pets that are available and do our best to make a good match. Once this occurs, the adopter is expected to adopt the pet in a timely manner. We do want to let you know that many of our dogs get adopted quickly.  Application processing can take up to 1 week after the home visit. Please watch your email and check your junk mail. *
Required
Step 6 - Adopt! Once a match is made, we will arrange for you to meet the pet and if it goes well, to adopt. We require all adopters to physically meet and pick up the pet(s) in Grand Forks ND area. Due to extreme weather conditions, we will not fly dogs as cargo. We also do not hold dogs for applicants. When it is time to pick up the pet, don't forget a collar, ID tag, leash, and kennel. Should the adoption at any time not work out, it is the adopter's responsibility to return the dog to Journey Home in a timely manner. *
Required
I have answered all questions and provided all needed references truthfully and honestly to the best of my knowledge. I will do my best to comply with Journey Home Animal Rescue adoption policies, which include providing a loving and safe environment for the lifetime of my new pet. Type in your name and today's date. *
I agree to pay a nonrefundable Adoption Application Fee of $10. *
