DESCRIPTION:
Maybe you've seen the movie, maybe you've read the book, but have you gone through Mark Watney's crises one by one with your colleagues to see if you could really maneuver out of his tight spots on Mars? Join us in a lively discussion about, "Can you really do that?" and, "What if ...??" As a companion piece for elementary teachers, we will also be discussing the book, "Mission to Mars" by Franklyn Branley. This picture book takes young students on a very realistic (and not too far in the future) journey from the International Space Station to Mars. Finally, during our session, we will be engaging you in a discussion about literacy in Science and what books YOU use (both fiction and non-fiction) in your Science classes. We will share with you titles from Yerke's brand new loaning library and take suggestions from you on what titles are "must haves" for new Science teachers. We will share your suggestions on social media.
