Poems should be about one or more of the following themes or topics: human rights, civil rights, social change, Pauli Murray, Durham’s history, African America history, and/or Women’s history.
Poems by more than one person will be accepted and judged as a single entry. Each contestant may submit up to two poems.
Poems will be accepted from February 1-March 31. Mail or email the Youth Prophecy Poetry Contest Cover Sheet with all submissions.
There are two ways to submit poems and each kind will be judged in two age groups, 12-15 and 16-19. The two categories are:
-Poems may be no longer than two pages
-Must be in 12pt font and single-spaced
Live Performance/Spoken Word:
-The performance may not be longer than three minutes
-Send an audio/video recording of the piece to email@example.com along with a written copy and the information sheet
-Only one live performance entry per person
