We are working on an EU-funded project called Women STEM Up, and we have designed a mentorship program for women students in STEM as mentees and university staff and women STEM professionals as mentors.
Mentoring has been found to be a key success factor for marginalised groups within STEM. Specifically for women, it has been shown to increase the number who enter and stay in STEM fields.
We are looking for women STEM professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, and innovators
who are interested or involved in supporting women in STEM fields. If you are passionate about women staying in STEM fields and look for ways to inspire and support this is a great opportunity for you!
The mentees will be women students from three partner universities: University of Thessaly in Greece, NTNU in Norway, and Linkoping University in Sweden.
What we provide:
- A mentorship guide and tools
- Short training session(s)
- A mentee and mentor contract template where both parties can agree on objectives and the time they are able to commit to this mentorship
- A certificate
What is expected from our mentors
After you are matched with a mentee, you will be expected to get in touch with them and arrange the first mentorship session (which will be in-person or online, depending on your and your mentee's location). You'll be required to meet with your mentee 3 times for a duration of 30 to 60 minutes each between December 2024 and February 2025.
If you are interested in this mentorship opportunity, please fill out this interest form. We will contact you shortly with more details and instructions, and we'll host info sessions to review the program and expectations multiple times in November via Zoom. We look forward to hearing from you!
Note that we will organize a hackathon in summer 2025 in Greece, incorporating entrepreneurship and creativity skills in activities for women students in STEM. Mentors will have the opportunity to take part if they want. You will hear more about this opportunity over the next months.
