Deep Dive Proposal 2023: Round 1 In Person
At DL2023, (March 28th- 30th), Deep Dives are an integral part of the experience. THIS IS AN APPLICATION FOR AN IN-PERSON DEEP DIVE.

Deep Dives provide attendees with the opportunity to dive deeply into complex and interesting topics and emerge with new ideas, wonderings, and inspiration. Your proposal will be reviewed by a selection committee using the following criteria to ensure the richest experience for participants: https://bit.ly/DeepDiveCriteria.

We aim to showcase interactive and immersive deep dives that model and embed equitable teaching practices to explore questions like:, "How might we...":
* Support educators in designing deeper learning experiences for all students across multiple contexts?
* Cultivate leaders who facilitate deeper learning in schools?
* Create and advance equitable learning environments?
* Explore our communities to use experience as text for our work?

At DL2023 we hope participants:
*Experience deeper learning for themselves through an interactive experience that includes an opportunity to share their learning.
*Connect with powerful educators who care deeply about preparing students for college, career, and beyond.
*Learn new ideas and practices that will help them teach for deeper learning competencies.

Deep Dives will be held on Day 2 (Wednesday, March 29) of the conference for a total of 4 hours of working session time with a 1.5 hour lunch break halfway through.

If accepted, a DL team member will work closely with you to ensure your deep dive is a success. Accepted presenters will receive complimentary registration at the event ($1050/regular registration) and compensation of $1,000 per Deep Dive.

Proposals are due by November 1st.

Title of Deep Dive: *
Make this fun and very unique! We encourage you not to use "deeper learning" in the title since the "deeper learning" is implied.
Session Description *
Please provide a detailed description of your session–what attendees will experience, learn and leave with after your deep dive.
Deeper Learning Competencies Connection *
In what ways will participants engage in the Deeper Learning Competencies: Content Expertise, Effective Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking & Problem Solving, Self-Directed Learning, and Academic Mindsets?  How will you make the competencies explicit as the attendees experience them throughout your workshop? To learn more about the Deeper Learning Competencies check out: www.deeper-learning.org.
Share Your Learning Plan *
The Deep Dive Day will end with an all-conference Share Your Learning Showcase. We are excited to co-create this with facilitators and K-12 students after the selection of deep dive proposals concludes. As we design this social hour of sharing, what ideas do you have for preparing participants from your session to reflect on their learning and its impact on their practice? How might participants demonstrate and celebrate their learning from your deep dive?  How will you exhibit your deep dive products or publicly share your process?
Draft Agenda (4 hours total). * *
Please include a detailed agenda, including times and activities to the best of your ability. Note that your day should model Deeper Learning, so it should be interactive, engaging and have participants doing and talking together at least 70% of the time. We encourage you to resist the impulse to front load content via lecture before engaging participants, and to keep in mind the exhibition and build towards that. For example, your agenda may be something like: 1.(15min) Introductions, Icebreaker and Framing of Deep Dive session. 2.(30 min Empathy Phase: Interviewing elementary students about their playground experiences. 3-(20 min) Critique of Models of Playground Designs. 4-(1 hour )Work on Google Sketch-up with assistance/feedback from Student Advisors, etc.
Which topic areas does your deep dive most closely align with (3 topics max)? *
