Disclaimer - leather & suede garments
There are some inherent risks when professionally cleaning leather and suede garments. If care instructions are affixed to your leather items, it is Greene’s Cleaners, Inc. policy to follow those instructions. Even with proper care procedures, results could be unsatisfactory. Leather and suede garments are more susceptible to damage during the cleaning process because they are made of skins taken from animals. They are usually made from different parts of the animal’s body and sometimes combined from multiple animals. The following is a list for the possible unknowns that can occur when cleaning any leather or suede garments: 1. Colors and dyes are soluble in any dry cleaning solvent and can result in color loss. Original color may not always be restored after cleaning. 2.Scars, tick marks, veins, wrinkles and texture variations are all characteristics of leathers and suede's and may be more noticeable after the cleaning process. 3. Stretching is part of the manufacturing of all skins or more notably known as Tanning. Shrinkage may occur after cleaning. 4. Glues used during the construction of the leather may not be resistant to the dry cleaning solvent and it may seep through the leather and cause shading and dark areas on the surface of the skin. 5. Garments of multi color may bleed onto the adjacent leather or suede. 6. The vinyl trim or embellishment of a garment may peel, harden or may get a blister look after the cleaning. Letterman jackets are especially vulnerable to the cleaning process. Darker colors or dyes may bleed onto the lighter areas of the garment. 7.Some stains cannot be removed without causing damage to the color or skins. 8. Decorative trim, metal, rhinestones, beads and sequins may be damaged or come off during the cleaning process. We will take every precaution cleaning your leather and suede items.
