Centre for Family Literacy - Volunteer Application
Thank you for your willingness to support the programs at the Centre for Family Literacy (CFL) by volunteering your time with our organization. We strive to contact all potential volunteers within 7 business days of the submission of their application.

CFL uses Google Forms to collect personal information for the sole purpose of using this information in the delivery of services to match and support our volunteers. By providing your information via a Google Form and/or another electronic method such as email you are consenting to the collection of this information by this method.

We will use your information to keep you informed of special events, volunteer appreciation events, funding needs, opportunities to volunteer and other agency related activities, and to send you Centre for Family Literacy newsletters and other communications. Should you wish to be removed from any of these lists, please contact the Volunteer Manager.

Volunteers personal information will not be disclosed without prior consent, unless the provisions of any applicable laws stipulate to the contrary.

Email is our primary method for communicating with our volunteers. We will email you a monthly volunteer newsletter, informative bulletins or requests for information. We endeavour to keep our emails applicable to your role and provide you, our volunteers with as much support as possible. Volunteering at the Centre for Family Literacy
Volunteers at the Centre for Family Literacy are key to the successful delivery of our programs and services. Volunteers either contribute weekly or on an occasional or role specific basis.
Weekly Volunteer *
Choose all of the options that apply to you. How do you see yourself volunteering with us on a weekly basis? The minimum time commitment for weekly volunteers is, on average 1-2 hours per week. Our weekly volunteers are required to attend a number of one time information and training sessions: Placement Interview (1 hour) and a Role Specific Training Session (up to 6 hours). Please keep in mind that all of the roles listed below may not be available and we endeavour to ensure a 'good fit' when placing volunteers in our programs.

Occasional and role specific volunteers are scheduled as per the requirements of those roles and time commitments vary. Information and training sessions will be provided to occasional or role specific volunteers as required by the role. The Centre for Family Literacy sends a quarterly newsletter to all interested parties. This correspondence is a great overall view of the amazing work underway at the Centre and is a separate document from the monthly volunteer newsletter which you will receive as a valued member of our volunteer team. Centre for Family Literacy Membership *
Current volunteers of the Centre for Family Literacy are offered free membership status and voting rights at the annual general meeting (AGM). Members are sent an invitation to our annual meeting 21 days in advance of the meeting in accordance with requirements of the Alberta Society’s act. Though we welcome and encourage all members to attend, attendance at the AGM is entirely optional. Membership remains open to current volunteers only. Would you like to be provided membership status?
