e-portfolios

Dear Student:

Welcome to Professor Stein's class at Touro College. Most will find it an exciting, creative, worthwhile and engaging experience. Students in this course are asked to create an e-portfolio. This is YOUR very own teaching site and hopefully it will get you a teaching position or a promotion. You may offer your site to your current or future students (first ask permission from your supervisor) and it can have in it lessons, videos, documents and more.. These lessons can be yours, the lessons of classmates or from the Internet. Remember the IAUP, especially no pictures of students, copyright and professionalism.

Most students want an A... Here is your chance! We are embarking on a creative journey!!!!!!
If you are at this page you have already created your Touro gmail correctly and completed your IAUP assignment- GREAT! Now it is time to create your teaching e-portfolio website. Please note that I request that when making the site URL it MUST be the same as your gmail account. For example Joe Smith would have created a gmail account tourojsmith@gmail.com. Joe Smith’s e-portfolio would be ”tourojsmith”. And on the Home page he would add a Touro Header (Touro, Your Name, email, etc.). If this is done correctly the world will be able to visit your site (URL) at student.webhop.org/XXX, where XXX is the first part of the tourogmail you created for this course. Later you can add lots more to make the Home page of your site captivating.

Below is a list of components for an improved grade. During the course, from time to time you will be asked to complete this form. This is a guideline ONLY. Be “professionally and creative”. Borrow ideas and approached from other students. You will be asked during the class to create new pages and add them to the left linkbar, however you need not have All component on every page. Yes you can create additional new pages of your own as well.

The form below is a guideline ONLY. It is a rubric for some components. All components need not be on every page. Make your educational site ( e-portfolio) enjoyable for students,dDemonstrate that you have achieved the course student outcomes as listed in the syllabus (a good page for this is 603 Course Outcomes, where you can upload documents, etc.

There are additional accounts which you may be asked to create at different websites. PLEASE use your NEW touro gmail address with your same gmail password to keep things easy for you. For example you may be asked to create an account at Jing (jingproject.com), teachertube.com, youtube.com and Picasa (picasa.google.com.

During the course you will be asked to update this form several times as well. At the end of the semester you will be asked to complete this form to show ALL the pages you have created and the components you have used. This e-portfolio project will be done over the course of the semester. DO NOT try to do it all at once. My differentiated instructional approach will allow some to go ahead. It allows you to ask questions in BBDB FAQ. Complete this form (multiple times) as you add components to your site.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO INCLUDE ALL PAGES. YOU DO NOT NEED TO INCLUDE ALL COMPONENTS on each page. THIS IS DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION AND ALLOWS STUDENTS TO ADVANCE!!!!! Visit www.professorstein.com for assistance. DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED… We(students and professor) are here to help. Visit BBDB FAQ to ask or respond to questions (and get class participation points).

Regards,
Professor Stein
