This course is eight (8) hours for one (1) day.
This course is offered as part of the Tennessee Interoperability Exercise and Workshop, August 13-16, 2018.
This course (COML Boot Camp) will be class room lecture and COML based exercises with a final exam at the end of the course. Each student will need to bring 2 actual com plans they have compiled and executed during the period they have been certified as a COML. The individuals will be re-certified at their current certification status (example: if you are a STATE COML you will re-certify at that level). The individuals who were certified at the “National Level” will be re-certified at the “Regional Level”. SAFECOM and NCSWIC ruled States could not certify individuals for the National Level COML or COMT. This may change in the future.
Individuals completing and passing the re-certification course will receive credentials (a TEMA COML photo ID Badge and a Certificate).

The Communications Unit (COMU) plays a critical support role within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS establishes basic principles, practical tools, and a definitive nomenclature and structure for supporting incident-based emergency response.
The Communications Unit Leader (COML) heads the Communications Unit and is responsible for integrating communications and ensuring that operations are supported by communications. The COML must understand ICS and local response systems to support the efforts of Incident personnel.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
